I just moved here from San Diego and always complain about the food here in KC- but wow this place is amazing!! The food, the service- delicious and kind and efficient. Will be my one go-to when I want to eat out!
Every now and then, when you see a food recommendation from one of your IG followers, you go and try it for yourself..... The fact that I'm just now discovering Baba's makes me kinda sad. I could've been supporting this amazing restaurant since they opened in 2021. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, it is conveniently located on 63rd Street, which means, this is my favorite new neighborhood eatery. I have eaten Baba's twice now, calling to place an order and doing a quick pickup in the afternoon. I've tried: Vegan Shwarma, Baba's Kebab, Babas fried, stuffed falafel and two of the daily lemonades. Everything was good, and I am more than comfortable exploring the menu when I eventually visit again. Now back to the lemonade, the first time I had blueberry pomegranate and I was honestly blown away by the combination landing perfectly, and even more surprised when I had the mango lemonade , and I was just as pleased. Though I have not eaten inside the restaurant yet, I can tell it's a nice place to enjoy a meal with friends. It's got that homey feel to it. There's not a lot of seating, so be mindful of thaton a Saturday night, it gets busy!
This is the cutest place I've ever been to and starting to become my new favorite place. The Palestinian food was great, so rich and full of flavor. I got the chicken shawarmas and it was deliciously warm with a pita. Their desserts are also delicious too. You must try their lemonades! They have new flavors everyday and they are the best. The service was great, everyone was so kind and willing to answer questions. I am excited for Baba to open up their bakery next door!
I highly support the owners and this restaurant. Not only that, but the food is great. There's some seating inside if you want to dine in, but I chose to do take out. For what I ordered, got plenty of food too - I didn't even finish my food in one sitting. Everything tasted fresh, with lots of spices and flavors. I appreciated the sauces and accompaniments on the side. The people working are super nice and patient and help you with food recommendations. My food was ready for take out relatively quickly, maybe 10 minutes. There's a smallish parking lot in the back of the restaurant.
Only been here a handful of times, but it's been great every single time. It's a small little place with limited seating, but the food is authentic and fantastic, and you can get all sorts of wonderful sides--pickles and cheeses and such--to take home to snack on. Big fan.
A Hidden Gem for Authentic Palestinian Cuisine Baba's Pantry is a must-visit! The food is authentic and delicious--creamy hummus, perfectly crispy falafel, and daily flavors of lemonade. The shawarma wraps are packed with flavor and super satisfying. Even the vegan shawarma! The staff is incredibly welcoming, making you feel like family, and the cozy atmosphere reflects the richness of Palestinian culture. This is more than a meal; it's an experience. I feel spoiled every time I see Baba Kamal when he spoils me with his service. Can't wait to come back!
This was my first time stopping by baba's and well worth it in my opinion. The atmosphere in here makes you feel like you're walking into a family members house, the owner was walking around talking to people, they gave out free samples, and everyone who worked there was friendly. The decor was vibrant and I loved the artwork on the menu boards. I ordered the baba ghanoush and chicken shawarma wrap. I was tempted to get some labneh from their deli section and will definitely be getting it next time. The baba ghanoush was packed with lemon and tahini flavor without being overwhelming and the pickled veggies were a delightful touch for me. The chicken shawarma was earthy from the tumeric which I haven't experienced before and the tomato cucumber salad its topped with added a nice fresh brightness and crunch. Next time I'd probably go with a different sauce than tahini to further contrast the earthy chicken but the good thing is you can customize your wrap any way you'd like for free! Seating inside and outside is limited, so be prepared to take this one to go. I went at 1pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. That didn't stop them from getting my food out fast and it all tasted fresh.
After a round of golf in the greater KC area, my friend couldn't stop raving about Baba's, so I had to see what all the hype was about. And let me tell you, Baba's Pantry truly lives up to its reputation as one of the best Mediterranean spots in the Kansas City area. Even though it's a bit of a drive for me, I'll definitely be back, especially after a good round of golf! I ordered the Chicken Shawarma wrap, and wow, it was amazing! Perfectly moist, with a balanced filling that brought so much joy to each bite. If you like a bit of heat, do yourself a favor and get a side of their hot sauce--it adds the perfect kick for any spice lover like myself. They're also generous with the portions. The wrap alone was satisfying, but the large serving of fries sealed the deal. I even tried a bite of my friend's falafel, and I was pleasantly surprised. I've never been a huge falafel fan, but Baba's were moist, flavorful, and unlike the dry ones I've had elsewhere. Plus, the hummus! Whether it came with my friend's meal or as a side, they really don't hold back. So much hummus, and it was delicious! The space inside is cozy, with just a few tables (about 4-5), giving it a laid-back café vibe. Be prepared to wait during peak lunch hours, but trust me--it's worth it!
FINALLY made it in! So glad we went here today. I got a hummus plate with falafel & my friend got a chicken shawarma . Both were fabulous. I also got the berry rose lemonade, which was great. My friend got the Turkish coffee & we werent impressed with it. We will be back because I need to try the desserts too! The service was fine. They were very laid back. The inside is cute but very small. We sat outside to eat because of the limited seating inside, which would have been fine if not for the wind. Definitely a place I want to frequent when time/money allow.
When you enter Baba's pantry you are transcended to a Palastinian family home. You are instantly comforted by the cultural decor and the homemade pantry items that line the shelves and fill the coolers. Order at the counter and settle in if you are lucky to stop by when a table is available. Andy was so helpful and answered all my questions. They offer a vegan jackfruit which BURSTING with flavor! I opted to get my jackfruit wrap deconstructed in a bowl, and Andy was accommodating. Get the fixings... Torshi, Shatta, pickled turnips and olives! Also ordered the baba's ganoush platter with cucumbers and Baba's falafel (stuffed with onion and sumac). The ganoush was big enough for a family. The falafel are so so crispy! And they are more of a log shape which allows for better dipping in garlic toum sauce. I will say as the falafel cooled the flavors of the stuffing started to stand out more. On my second visit I tried the hummus which is very creamy and heavy on the tahini flavor. I was overwhelmed with joy and pleasure dining here. I'll be forever grateful that I got to dine here and I WILL always visit when I'm in town. There's plenty of parking in either of the lots on the S and W side of the storefront. Thank you Andy and Baba
